HAND ASSEMBLY

Most of our work involves mechanical stringing, but we also perform hand-assembly work for projects outside the parameters of our stringing machines. We specialize in multiple-tag assemblies on one string, as well as tags with very long or very short loops that exceed the typical parameters of mechanical stringing.

A NEED FOR CARE AND ATTENTION

Sometimes, machine stringing is not enough, and hand assembly work must meet this need in order to accomplish a satisfactory result.

If a client or job is committed to using a particular type of string which cannot be run on our machines, for example, we can offer to string a job by hand, individually.

We can also offer hand stringing when the required length of a loop on a tag exceeds machine parameters. For machine stringing, most of our non-elastic strings can be set for any value in between 3″ and 8″ hole-to-knot. Our elastics, by contrast, are generally shorter loops, but vary by type. Our standard elastic can be from 1-1/2″ to 5″ hole-to-knot.

These loop length parameters work for the vast majority of configurations, but sometimes a job will require hand stringing, due to the required length being outside the parameters of our stringing machines.

HAND ASSEMBLY FOR DISTINCTIVE TAGS

We often see requests for two or more tags of different stock or material, but looped onto one string. There is no mechanical way to achieve this result, so we offer hand assembly options to create these distinctive pieces. This process, while expensive, can yield a much sought-after result. We would be happy to provide an estimate, either for your uniquely creative hand assembly design, or for your ordinary hang tag.

Hand Stringing with Pre-Drilled Holes

We usually ask that customers send us their hang tags without holes for mechanical stringing. However, sometimes the tags have already been drilled or punched by the printer. If we cannot string them mechanically due to an alignment or cutting issue, then we can either hand-string or hand-loop your tags.

DETAIL: Hand Stringing

This tag has been strung, meaning that a single thickness of string goes through the tag, resulting in the string hanging perpendicular to the tag.

This tag has been looped, meaning that a double thickness of string goes through the tag, resulting in the string hanging parallel to the tag.

Unusually Long or Short Lengths

Our stringing machines have different parameters for minimum and maximum loop lengths. The vast majority of our non-elastic strings can be in between 3″ and 8″ hole-to-knot. Our elastics, by contrast, are generally shorter loops, but vary by type. Our standard elastic can be from 1-1/2″ to 5″ hole-to-knot. If your tag must be strung shorter or longer, then hand assembly will be a must.

Multiple Tags Strung Together

We offer options to string multiple tags together, by hand, onto one closed loop of string. Assembly by hand yields a distinctive and beautiful product, despite being a time-consuming process.
